Introduction to Windows 10

In this computer basics tutorial, you are going to be using windows operating system version 10 (Windows 10). Windows 10 is one of the windows version releases of Microsoft which succeeded Windows 8 operating system. Windows 10 operating system came with a lot of new and cool features.

Some of the new and upgraded features that came with windows 10 includes the following:

Cortana

Windows 10 brought Cortana (Microsoft’s voice-controlled digital assistant) on desktop to make it easy for users to interact with their computers without using their hands.

Microsoft Edge Browser

The normal Internet Explorer was replaced with Microsoft Edge Browser which integrates with Cortana Digital Assistant making it possible for voice control, search and personalized information to users.

New Start Menu

The upgraded Windows 10 start menu has two panels. The left column panel contains recently added applications. It also contains the power button, settings, documents, pictures and user account. While the right column panel contains tiles of applications that can be resizable or adjusted.

Multiple Desktops

Windows 10 came with a feature that you can use to create more than one desktop workspace. You can use the task view in the task bar to create multiple desktop space for new works if you don't want too many things running on one desktop environment.

Universal Applications

These applications were introduced in order to make transitions between devices seamless and easy. For example, Photos application can get your images across your PC and mobile devices, organize, enhance and sync them through OneDrive application.

Unified Settings/Control Panel

Instead of having two applications: Control Setting and PC Setting, the settings are all merged together in one place to make it easy.

There are still other features such as: Action Center, Continuum, Project Spartan Browser, Xbox Application and lots more. As you follow up in this tutorial you will soon conversant with most of them.
