Setting Your Desktop Background

Setting up your desktop background is one of the most common things you will find your self doing frequently. In the windows settings tutorials, you must have come across this settings but it is also good if you know step by step how to do this.


  • STEPS FOR SETTING YOUR DESKTOP BACKGROUND
  • Step 1 - Go to your search box input in your status bar, at the left side of your windows desktop, after your windows home logo

  • Step 2 - Type Settings inside the search input box and click on the settings app (This will open your windows settings home page)

  • Step 3 - On your windows settings home page, click on Personalization (This will open the personalization settings section)

  • Step 4 - On the personalization settings page, the Background is the first option. (This will open your background option settings page)
  • Step 5 - On the background settings page, under the sub-heading Background there are three options to select from when you click on the selection box, they are the: Picture, Solid Color and Slideshow.

  • Step 6 (Picture)
    • (i) Select the Picture option from the selection box under the sub-heading Background
    • (ii) Click on the Browse button under the sub-heading Choose your picture (This will open your file explorer from which you can locate and choose the picture your want to set as your desktop background)
    • (iii) OR You can choose from the default pictures by clicking on it.
    • (iv) Click on the selection menu box under the sub-heading Choose a fit and select from the options how you want your background picture be in your desktop. After this you are done!

  • Step 6 (Solid Color)
    • (i) Select the Solid Color option from the selection box under the sub-heading Background
    • (ii) Under the sub-heading Choose your background color, Click on any color of your choice.
    • (iii) If you didn't see the color of your choice, you can click on the Custom color which opens a color dialog box for you to select the color your want there. During the windows settings tutorials I have already explained how to select color from your custom color dialog box, if you studied the windows settings tutorial very well, this won't be hard for you. After this you are done!

  • Step 6 (Slideshow)
    • (i) Select the Slideshow option from the selection box under the sub-heading Background
    • (ii) Click on the Browse button under the sub-heading Choose albums for your slideshow (This will open your file explorer from which you can locate and choose the folder which you want your slideshow pictures to come from)
    • (iii) Click on the selection menu box under the sub-heading Change picture every and select the duration of time you want a picture to stay before another one comes in.
    • (iv) Click on the switch button under the sub-heading Shuffle to either ON/OFF if you want or do not want your slideshow to change pictures at random other than to change it sequentially.
    • (v) Click on the switch button under the sub-heading Let slideshow run even if I am on battery power to either ON/OFF if you want or do not want your slideshow to run when your PC is not connected to power source (When it is not charging).
    • (vi) Click on the selection menu box under the sub-heading Choose a fit and select from the options how you want your background slideshow to be in your desktop. After this you are done!

  • ALTERNATIVE I - Click on your windows menu icon at the bottom left side of your desktop in the status bar. Go to Settings Icon

  • Click on it (This opens the windows settings home page). Then Click on the Personalization settings option

  • ALTERNATIVE II - Go to your desktop. Right Click. Move to Personalization at the bottom of the selection list and Click on it. (This will open the background settings page in the personalization settings section)

  • ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR SETTING UP DESKTOP BACKGROUND
  • Step 1 - Go to the folder where the picture you want to use as desktop background is located
  • Step 2 - Select the picture by Clicking on it.

    TIPS:

    Selecting more than one picture will set your background to slideshow option but if you select one picture the background option will be Picture

  • Step 3 - After selecting the picture (or pictures), Right Click on the picture (a list menu will display). In the first-row section, move to Set as desktop background and Click on it.
