Windows 10 Installation Process

There are two major methods of installing windows 10 or any other windows version into a computer system. The first method involves the use of a prepared USB Installation Media. The second method is by upgrading the windows from its current version to the version you want by downloading and installing its ISO file directly on the computer system.

Before moving to the methods and steps on how to install windows 10 operating system. First your computer needs the following basic requirements for the operating system to successfully install without errors.

    Computer Requirements

  • 1. CPU - Minimum of 1 gigahertz (GHz) Processor.
  • 2. RAM - Minimum of 1 gigabytes (GB) for 32-bit and Minimum of 2 gigabyte (GB) for 64-bit.
  • 3. STORAGE - Minimum of 64 gigabytes (GB) space for proper and smooth functioning.
  • 4. GRAPHICS CARD - Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.

For RAM and Processor Go to: Settings -> System -> About
For ROM Go to: File Explorer -> This PC -> Devices and Drives
For Graphics Card Go to: Settings -> Display -> System -> Advanced display settings -> Display information

    Method One (USB Installation Media)

  • Step 1 - Download the windows 10 iso file from the internet, or get the iso file from someone that has it around you and send it to your computer system.

  • Step 2 - Download Rufus application. Rufus is a software application that can be used to convert an ordinary flash storage drive into a bootable flash drive.

  • Step 3 - After downloading Rufus, install it by clicking on it (.exe file) and follow the processes of installation till the end. As far as you can read, installing an application into a computer system is easy to follow up with.

  • Step 4 - Open the Rufus Application and plug in the USB flash you want to covert into a bootable drive. Note that if there is no USB inserted, you want be able to proceed.

  • Step 5 - Click on Boot Selection and select Disc or ISO image

  • Step 6 - After Selecting Disc or ISO image from the Boot Selection dropdown menu. Click on the SELECT beside it. This will open your file explorer. Once your file explorer is opened, look for where you downloaded the iso file of the Windows 10. It will be in your downloads folder if you downloaded it from the internet. And if you collected it from someone, go to where you placed it, select the file and click on open.

  • Step 7 - Click on Partition Scheme and select MBR

  • Step 8 - Click on Volume Label to change the name of the USB flash to any name of your choice. (You can just type in Windows 10 or whatever you like.

  • Step 9 - Click on Partition Scheme and select MBR

  • Step 10 - Finally click on START button to start converting your flash to Windows 10 bootable flash

    NOTE:

    After clicking on start, you will receive a prompt message telling you that all your data in the flash will be permanently erased. Click on OK to format the flash and start the process. Remember that you need a clean flash drive for this process, if you have any important files in the flash you are using, do not use it for this process, else all your files in the flash will be erased.

  • Step 11 - After your flash has been successfully converted to bootable flash, remove it from your system. Then shut down your computer system.

  • Step 12 - Switch ON your computer system and press the (f2) button on your keyboard immediately the system shows up.
    A dialog box will display: select boot from USB Flash Device in the menu.

  • Step 13 - Next, you will be taken to another Dialog Box to set the following: Language, Time and Keyboard or input method (By Default this might be already set for you). After this, click on the NEXT button.

  • Step 14 - Click on the INSTALL button. Below you will find an option (REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER), you will also learn how that works in the cause of this computer basic tutorial.

  • Step 15 - On the next installation box you will have to select a partition disc on which you want to install windows 10 on. To make use of your existing partitions in the computer, select it and click on format. After formatting, click on NEXT button below.

  • Step 15 - Your Windows 10 will start installing. This installation process will take time, so your system needs to be charging or needs to have at least 90% battery. After installation process, then you can follow up with the rest processes, such as your computer name, picture and other simple settings. And finally your windows will be successfully installed.

    Method Two (Direct Upgrading/Installation)

  • Step 1 - Download the windows 10 iso file from the internet, or get the iso file from someone that has it around you and send it to your computer system

  • Step 2 - Click on the iso and start up installation
  • Step 3 - Follow the installation process, which is similar to the one above from Step 13.
