Find And Replace

FIND

This involves the process of looking for a word or sentence in your presentation.

  • Step 1 - On the Home tab, go to the Editing group and click on the Find command.
    OR press Ctrl + F
    The Find Dialog Box will be displayed.

  • Step 2 - In the find dialog box, type in the text that you want to find inside the input field and click on the Find Next button.

  • Step 3 - The first occurrence of the text will be highlighted in your slide as shown in the image below.

  • Step 4 - To narrow down your search you can click on the checkbox Match Case to find the exact text case match. Find whole words only to find whole words only that is not together with another word.

  • Step 5 - If your click on the Find Next button again, and there are no more occurrences of that text, a dialog box will be displayed notifying you that there are no more occurrences.

  • Step 6 - Click OK, then click on the Close button to close the Find Dialog Box.

NOTE:

There a Replace button in the find dialog box just below the close button. If you click on this button it will switch over to the Replace Dialog Box.


REPLACE

This involves the process removing a word in a slide and placing another word in its position or location.

  • Step 1 - On the Home tab, go to the Editing group and click on the Replace command.
    OR press Ctrl + H
    This will open the Replace Dialog Box.

  • Step 2 - In the replace dialog box, type in the text that you want to find inside the Find what input field and click on the Find Next button.

  • Step 3 - The first occurrence of the text will be highlighted in your slide as shown in the image below.

  • Step 4 - To narrow down your search you can click on the checkbox Match Case to find the exact text case match. Find whole words only to find whole words only that is not together with another word.

  • Step 5 - Type in the text that you want to replace the found word with in the Replace with input field.

  • Step 6 - If you click on the Replace button, the first occurrence will be replaced with the text. Clicking on it again will replace the second occurrence and so on until there are no more occurrence of the text.
    But clicking on the Replace All button, replace all occurrences of the text in the entire slide at once. A dialog box will be displayed after giving you information of how many replacements were made.
