Transitions

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to work with transitions in PowerPoint with ease. Just follow the simple steps below

DEFINITION:

Transitions are animation-like effects that is used when moving from on slide to another in your presentation.

  • USING SIMPLE TRANSITIONS
  • Step 1 - Click on the slide that you want to add transition on the slide tab.

  • Step 2 - Go the menu tab and click on the Transition tab. The transition ribbon displayed contains 3 (three) groups which are the Preview, Transition To This Slide and Timing.

  • Step 3 - In the Transition group, you can click on any of the transitions (Morph, Fade, Push, Wipe, Split, Reveal, Cut, Random Bars) and it will be applied to the selected the slide.

  • MORE TRANSITIONS
  • Step 1 - To use other transitions that comes with PowerPoint, simply click on the small button at the bottom right corner of the Transition To This Slide group as shown in the image below.

  • Step 2 - More transitions will be displayed which are categorized into: Subtle, Exciting and Dynamic Content.

  • Step 3 - You can try out transitions from any of the categories above and see how they are.
  • EFFECT OPTIONS - The effect option is used to control the direction from which the transition should start from and end.
    Go to the Transition To This Slide group and click on Effect Options. A dropdown list of options will be displayed in accordance to the transition chosen: Select your desired option.

NOTE:

The number of effect options depends on the transition style that is selected or chosen.

  • TRANSITION TIMING
  • Step 1 - Click on the Transitions tab and go to the Timing group.

  • Step 2 - Here, you can set the transition sound, how much time it will be given and also apply the transition settings of that particular to your entire presentation, by using the Sound, Duration and Apply To All options respectively.

  • Step 3 - Lastly, under the Advance Animation, there are options to: Enable/Disable (On Mouse Click) which is used when you want the next slide to be started when you either click it or do not. There is also an option to set a particular number of seconds the slide will stay before moving to the next slide in the presentation.
