PowerPoint - Text Decoration

Text Decoration

Text decoration has to do with styling a text. In this tutorial I will be showing you how to apply different text decorations to your text in PowerPoint.

  • APPLYING BOLD
  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to make bold

  • Step 2 - Go to the Home tab, inside your Font group and click on the Bold B command
    OR press Ctrl + B on your keyboard. (Bold will be applied to your text)

  • APPLYING ITALIC
  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to make italic

  • Step 2 - Go to the Home tab, inside your Font group and click on the Italic I command
    OR press Ctrl + I on your keyboard. (Italic will be applied to your text)

  • APPLYING UNDERLINE
  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to underline

  • Step 2 - Go to the Home tab, inside your Font group and click on the Underline U command
    OR press Ctrl + U on your keyboard. (Underlining will be applied to your text)

  • Changing Underline Style And Color
  • Step 1 - After selecting the text that you want to underline, inside your Home tab, in the Font group click on the dialog box launcher (The font dialog box will be displayed)

  • Step 2 - Inside the font dialog box, under the second section All Text you can set you underline styles and underline color.

  • Step 3 - Click on the arrow dropdown button beside the underline style selection menu and select the type of underline style you want to use.

  • Step 4 - Click on the arrow dropdown button beside the underline color selection menu and select the underline color you want to use.

  • Step 5 - After you are done, you can click on the OK button to apply it to your text.

  • APPLYING TEXT SHADOW
  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to apply text shadow

  • Step 2 - Go to the Home tab, inside your Font group and click on the Text Shadow S command and the text shadow will be applied to your text.

  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to strikethrough

  • Step 2 - Go to the Home tab, inside your Font group and click on the and click on the strikethrough ab command. (Your selected text will be strikethrough)

  • APPLYING SUBSCRIPT
  • Step 1 - Select the text, letter or figure that you want to make subscript

  • Step 2 - Inside your Home tab, in the Font group click on the dialog box launcher (The font dialog box will be displayed)

  • Step 3 - Inside the font dialog box, in the Effects section click to mark the Subscript checkbox. Then click the OK button to apply it to the selected text.

    NOTE:

    You can also adjust how you want subscript to be, by setting the Offset value to your desired percentage.

  • Step 4 - Subscript successfully applied to the text.

  • APPLYING SUPERSCRIPT
  • Step 1 - Select the text, letter or figure that you want to make superscript

  • Step 2 - Inside your Home tab, in the Font group click on the dialog box launcher (The font dialog box will be displayed)

  • Step 3 - Inside the font dialog box, in the Effects section click to mark the Superscript checkbox. Then click the OK button to apply it to the selected text.

  • APPLYING TEXT HIGHLIGHT
  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to apply highlight.

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, inside the Font group, click on the highlight command to highlight the text.
    To change the color of the highlight, click on the dropdown arrow button beside the text highlight icon. A dropdown list of colors will display, here you can click on the color you want to use for the highlight.

  • APPLYING FONT COLOR
  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want change the font color.

  • Step 2 - In the Home tab, inside the Font tab, click on the font color command to change the font color of the selected text.
    To use another color for the font, click on the dropdown arrow button beside the font color icon. From the dropdown list of colors displayed, click the one you want to use.

  • To look for more colors you can click on the More Colors options from the dropdown list, and this will bring out the color dialog box where you have other types of colors to select from.

  • Powerpoint also provides you with the Eye Dropper option. This option is used to pick colors from your slide area object and apply it to the selected text or object.

  • Step 3 - Your font color will be applied successfully to the text.
