PowerPoint - Setting Text Case

Setting Text Case

PowerPoint have five (5) types of text cases. To set the text case simply for the steps below.

  • SENTENCE CASE
  • Sentence case is text case that capitalizes each letter starting a sentence in your document.

  • Step 1 - Select the portion of text, paragraph or document that you want to change to sentence case

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Fonts group and click on the Change Case button.
    A dropdown list will appear, click on the Sentence case option from the dropdown list and your selected text, paragraph or document will be changed to sentence case.

    NOTE:

    Sentence case is usually a default setting when typing in powerpoint. Anytime you are starting another sentence, powerpoint automatically capitalizes the first letter of that sentence.

  • LOWER CASE
  • Lower case is text case that changes every letter (or words) in your sentence into small letters.

  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to change to lower case

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Fonts group and click on the Change Case button.
    A dropdown list will appear, click on the lower case option from the dropdown list and your selected text will be changed to small letters.

  • UPPERCASE
  • Uppercase is text case that capitalizes letters in your document.

  • Step 1 - Select the text that you want to change to uppercase

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Fonts group and click on the Change Case button.
    A dropdown list will appear, click on the UPPERCASE option from the dropdown list and your selected text will be capitalized.

  • CAPITALIZE EACH WORD
  • This option is used to capitalized each letter of the selected portion of text or document.

  • Step 1 - Select the portion of text or document that you want the letter of each word to be capitalized

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Fonts group and click on the Change Case button.
    A dropdown list will appear, click on the Capitalize Each Word option from the dropdown list and the letter of each word in your selected text or document will be capitalized.

  • TOGGLE CASE
  • Toggle case is a text case that is used to change the current case of the selected text in reverse order. That is, if the text in your document is in uppercase, it will be changed to lowercase and if the text in your document is in uppercase it will change it to lowercase.
    And if you have both lowercase and uppercase letters in the same selected text, it will change the lowercase letters to uppercase and the uppercase letters to lowercase.

  • Step 1 - Select the portion of text that you want to apply the toggle case

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Fonts group and click on the Change Case button.
    A dropdown list will appear, click on the tOOGLE cASE option from the dropdown list and the selected text or document will be changed to toggle case.

TIP:

Click on the dialog box launcher in the Font group. From the Font Dialog Box that is displayed, inside the Effects section you can mark the checkbox for either All Caps, Small Caps or Equlaize Character Spacing. Click the OK button then after.
