DEFINITION:

Slide Size refers to the width and height of a particular slide, which slide orientation in PowerPoint refers to the direction or way the slide is being displayed.

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how you can change the size and orientation of your slide. There are multiple types of sizes which you can use and there are also two major types of orientation in PowerPoint which is the: Portrait and Landscape.

  • Step 1 - Click on the Design tab and go to the Customize group and click on the Slide Size.

  • Step 2 - The dropdown list will display two major slide sizes to select from and also an option to customize slide size further.

  • Step 3 - You can simply click on the any of the two default options to change the slide size according, but here we will be clicking on Customize Slide Size to see other options for customizing our slide size.

  • Step 4 - After clicking on the custom slide size, the Slide Size dialog box will be displayed. Here there are different default slide sizes that you can choose from when you click on the Selection Box under the heading Slide size for:.

    You can manually customize the size by change the values under the Width and Height headings.

    To set the particular number of slide you want to start from, simply edit the values under the heading Number Slides from.
  • Step 5 - Once you are done, click the OK button and the slide size will be changed successfully.

  • SLIDE ORIENTATION
  • Step 1 - Click on the Design tab and go to the Customize group and click on the Slide Size.

  • Step 2 - From the dropdown list displayed, click on the Customize Slide Size, to open the Slide Size dialog box.

  • Step 3 - In the Slide Size dialog box, at the right size, under the heading orientation there you will see two options which you can use to change the slide orientation to either Landscape or Portrait.

    NOTE:

    You can also change the notes, handouts and outline orientation sizes too under its heading.

  • Step 4 - Once you are done, click the OK button.

  • Step 5 - Depending on the orientation option you pick, a dialog box will be displayed for you asking you whether you want to maximize the size of your content and ensure it fits. Click on your desired option.

  • Step 6 - All done! My slide orientation has been successfully changed to Portrait.
