PowerPoint - Insert Comments

Insert Comments

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to comments on PowerPoint. Just follow up with the simple steps below to learn this.

  • INSERTING COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Select the text or object or portion in your slide that you want to insert a comment to

  • Step 2 - Click on the Insert tab and go to the Comments group and click on Comment option.

  • Step 2 (Alternative) - If you don't want to go through using tabs and ribbon commands, then after selecting the text Click on the New Comment from the Mini-toolbar displayed. OR Right Click on the selected text, then click on New Comment from the options displayed as shown in the image below

  • Step 3 - The comment pane will be displayed at the right side of your PowerPoint windows.

  • Step 4 - Inside the comment pane, (just below your name if you are signed in Microsoft account on your device), there is an input field where you can type in the comment you want to make.
    Press Ctrl + Enter on your keyboard to post your comment OR you can simply click on the Post Comment button. Then to delete the entire comment while type simple click on the Cancel. All these are shown in the image below.

    NOTE:

    If you cancel the comment, you can simply click on the New Comment Icon on the Comment Pane to start another comment.

  • Step 5 - After you post your comment, the date and time at which you posted it will be displayed below your comment. Below this, a reply input field will be automatically created and displayed. At the top left corner of the comment box, you will find icons and options to delete thread, resolve thread, edit comment and like comment.

  • Step 6 - At the top right corner of the comment pane, click on the Close button to close the comment pane.

  • Step 7 - If you look at the slide tab, the number of comments a particular slide has, will be displayed below its name.

  • DELETE THREADS IN COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Click the comment icon located at the slide tab, just below its name

  • Step 2 - The comment pane will be displayed. Inside the comment box, click on the three dotted icon at the top right corner of the comment box. From the options displayed, click on Delete Thread.

  • Step 3 - Thread will be deleted successfully.

  • RESOLVE THREADS IN COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Click the comment icon located at the slide tab, just below its name

  • Step 2 - The comment pane will be displayed. Inside the comment box, click on the three dotted icon at the top right corner of the comment box. From the options displayed, click on Resolve Thread.

  • Step 3 - Thread will be resolve successfully. At the top right corner of the solved thread, you can Undo this action or Delete thread permanently.

TIP:

A thread is a post that contains comments/replies referring to a particular post.
A Comment thread refers to comments/replies that follows a particular post.
A Comment is a single post that contains no replies.

  • EDIT COMMENTS/THREADS
  • Step 1 - Click the comment icon located at the slide tab, just below its name

  • Step 2 - The comment pane will be displayed. Inside the comment box, click on the Edit Icon at the top right corner of the comment box.

  • Step 3 - Edit your comments/threads in the input field displayed. Press Ctrl + Enter on your keyboard to post your comment OR you can simply click on the Post Comment button.

  • Step 4 - Comments/Threads edited successfully.

  • LIKE/UNLIKE COMMENTS/THREADS
  • Step 1 - Click the comment icon located at the slide tab, just below its name

  • Step 2 - The comment pane will be displayed. Inside the comment/thread box, click on the Like Icon at the top right corner of the comment box.

NOTE:

This number of likes is displayed just after the like icon and the name of people who liked the comment/thread will be displayed when you place your mouse on top of the like icon.
