  • Step 3 - After clicking on the browse option, PowerPoint will open your file explorer.
Now select the location you want you file to be saved to. Enter your document name in the File Name input field.
The file type by default will already be in .pptx which is the extension name for PowerPoint documents.
Then click on the Save button

  • ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO SAVE YOUR PRESENTATION
  • Press Ctrl + S on your keyboard.
This will bring out a dialog box for you to type in your document name and select the location you want to save your presentation from the selection menu box. (By default, your documents folder will be selected)
  • saving-presentation
  • After this you can click on the Save button to save your presentation.

  • If you click on the link More options it will take you to the save as or save page to select the location you want and proceed to file explorer and save.
note
NOTE:

When saving a New Presentation, PowerPoint uses the first text in your presentation slide to set as your default presentation name, that is why you often see a name is already filled in your file name input field when you want to save.

To save pre-existing presentation that you made changes on, press Ctrl + S on your keyboard and it will be saved.
OR, click on File on your menu tab and click on Save and your changes will be saved.

When saving your pre-existing document changes, PowerPoint will not open your file explorer for you to choose location or type in your file name again, your presentation will just save and remain in your PowerPoint windows.

tips
TIP:

If you want to make changes to an existing document and save it separately, you will have to use the Save As option following the first method given above.
After saving you will have two separate documents: your old document without changes and your current document with the changes you made.

  • OPENING SAVED DOCUMENTS
  • Step 1 - Open your PowerPoint application. In the home page if your document is already on the recent documents section, click on it to open the document, but if it is not there move to Step 2

  • Step 2 - Click on the Open option, then click on Browse in the second column (PowerPoint will open your file explorer).
  • opening-presentation
  • Step 3 - Locate where you saved your document and click on it, then click on the Open button.
  • opening-presentation
  • Step 4 - Your saved document will be opened successfully!

The easiest way to open your saved PowerPoint document is to go to where you saved the document and Double Click on it. OR right click and click on open option.
