How To Design Simple Logo

You can design logo using the brand's name, company's name, objects, shapes, or pictures. Designing a simple logo is usually easy to do in ms-word, you just have to be creative.

In this tutorial I am going to be showing you how to make simple logo design using texts and shapes. Follow the simple steps below to learn it now!

  • COMPANY LOGO DESIGN
  • Step 1 - Open a blank document in Ms-word, click the Insert tab, go to the Illustrations group and click on the Shapes button. From the dropdown list of shape options, click on the oval shape.

  • Step 2 - Hold down the Shift and draw out, to make a perfect circle.

  • Step 3 - Go to the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Outline button. From the dropdown list click on the No Outline option to remove the outline from the shape.

  • Step 4 - In the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Fill button. From the dropdown list of color, click on the Blue Accent 1 Darker 50%.

  • Step 5 - Duplicate the shape by pressing Ctrl + D OR Hold down Ctrl key, the pressing down click button on the shape and drag out the duplicate, then release the Ctrl key.

  • Step 6 - Now resize the duplicate shape to the right side as show below. After that, in the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Fill button. From the dropdown list of color, click on the white color.

  • Step 7 - Then remove the outline also, in the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Outline button. From the dropdown list click on the No Outline option.

  • Step 8 - Draw another smaller circle inside the previous small circle, remove the outline also, in the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Outline button. From the dropdown list click on the No Outline option.

  • Step 9 - Again, draw another smaller circle inside the previous small circle, position it as show in the image below. Then remove the outline also, in the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Outline button. From the dropdown list click on the No Outline option.

  • Step 10 - Select that same circle. In the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Fill button. From the dropdown list click on the white color option.

  • Step 11 - Now click on the blue circle and use the arrow keys on your keyboard and move the circle to the left side as shown below.

    I hope you are getting it right, if you are not don't be angry with yourself, go back and slowly take it step by step in order for you not to miss out on any detail

  • Step 12 - Next I will be adding the text. Click on the Insert tab, go to the Text group and click on the Text Box option. This will display the dropdown list of option. Move downwards and click on the Draw Text Box option.

  • Step 13 - Type in the brand name and change the font to your desired one (in this tutorial I used the Franklin Gothic Heavy font). Increase the font size to make it more visible.

  • Step 14 - Remove the text box outline. In the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles click on the Shape Outline button. From the dropdown list click on the No Outline option.

  • Step 15 - Use the text box option and type in the sub-heading, brand tag line or services. Remove the text box outline using the method above.
    Remove the text box background color by going to the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles group and click on the Shape Fill button. Then from the dropdown list click on the No Fill option.

  • Step 16 - You can change the font to another nice font style. Click on the Home tab, inside the Font group, click on the font button to display font. Click on any font you like to apply it. In this tutorial I am using the font sytle: Bodomi MT Black.

  • Step 17 - Now I want to draw another shape below the text. Click on the Insert tab, go to the Illustrations group and click on the Shapes button. From the dropdown list of shapes click on the Arrow (left - Right) option under the heading of Block Arrows.

  • Step 18 - Draw the shape under the text as shown in the image below.

  • Step 19 - Duplicate the shape by pressing Ctrl + D or press down the Ctrl key and hold down the click button and drag out the duplicate shape. Shift the shape slightly to the right as shown in the image below.

  • Step 20 - Click outside the document area for proper view.

  • Step 21 - I want to add the star shape. To do this, click on the Insert tab, go to the Illustrations group and click on the Shapes button. From the dropdown list of shapes click on the Start (5 points) option under the heading of Stars and Banners.

  • Step 22 - Draw the perfect star above the letter O in the brand name.

  • Step 23 - In the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles group, click on the Shape Fill option. From the dropdown list, click on No Fill option. This will remove the fill color from the shape.

  • Step 24 - Click on the star shape again, in the Shape Format tab, inside the Shape Styles group, click on the Shape Outline option. From the dropdown list, move the mouse pointer over the Weight option which will display another list of lines. Then click on the 3pt line option.

  • Step 25 - You can adjust the color, for instance, I change the Arrow (Left-Right) color to black to blend with the star shape at the top.

    TIP:

    Don't be worried if the color is not exactly the same with the one, I used. Just try to be creative and blend colors together that will match each other and looks fine and good.

  • Step 26 - Now you have finished designing the logo, you will have to make merge it into one object. How can you do this?
    Select all the shapes and text by holding down the Ctrl key on the keyboard and Clicking on the shapes and text one by one until all of them are selected.
    Then Right Click on the edge of any of the edit points. From the dropdown list, move the mouse pointer to Group option which will display two options (Group and Ungroup). Click the Group option.

  • Step 27 - Now the texts and shapes used to design this logo is now merge into one whole shape. You can now resize, duplicate and move the logo at ease.
