Bullets, Numbering and Multilevel Listing

When typing in Ms-word there might be need to put your listed points in a very nice order. In Ms-word you can use bullet points, numbering or multilevel listing to do this.

  • BULLETS
  • Bullets are objects, pictures or thick points that is created at the beginning of a list. To apply bullets to your listed contents in your document, you can follow the steps below

  • Step 1 - Select the lists of text that you want to apply bullets to.

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Bullet arrow-down head button.
    This will display a list of bullet styles. Click on the one that you like to apply to your selected list items and it will be applied.

    You can also change the list level or your bullet style by going to the Change level list and clicking on the list level option you want.

  • HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN CUSTOM BULLETS
  • Step 1 - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Bullet arrow-down head button.
  • Step 2 - From the dropdown list, click on the Define New Bullet and this will open a dialog box for you to create your own custom bullet.

  • NUMBERING
  • Numbering in Ms-word involves using letters, roman numerals or numbers to style a list. To apply numbering to your listed items in your document, you can follow the steps below

  • Step 1 - Select the lists of text that you want to apply numbering to.

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Numbering arrow-down head button.
    This will display a list of Numbering styles. Click on the one you like to apply to your selected list items and it will be applied.

    You can also change the list level or your Numbering style by going to the Change level list and clicking on the list level option you want.

  • Step 1 - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Numbering arrow-down head button.
  • Step 2 - From the dropdown list, click on the Define New Number Format and this will open a dialog box for you to create your own custom numbering.

    You can also set the particular value you want your list to start from apart applying numbering.
    Click on Set Numbering Value and a dialog box will display for you to set it.

  • MULTILEVEL LISTS
  • Multilevel lists are the combination of lists inside list. This usually happens when you have list of items inside multiple lists. To apply multilevel lists to your compound list item in your document, you can follow the steps below

  • Step 1 - Select the compound lists of text that you want to apply the multilevel list styling to.

  • Step 2 - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Multilevel List arrow-down head button.
    This will display a list of Multilevel list styles. Click on the one you like to apply to your selected list items and it will be applied.

    You can also change the list level or your Multilevel list style by going to the Change level list and clicking on the list level option you want.

  • Step 1 - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Multilevel list arrow-down head button.
  • Step 2 - From the dropdown list, click on the Define New Multilevel List and this will open a dialog box for you to create your own custom multilevel list.

    Click on Define New List Style and a dialog box will display for you to set it.

NOTE:

When you click on the dropdown arrow-head button in any of the list style options (Bullet, Numbering and Multilevel List). The first row displays the recently used styles, the second row displays all the styles and the third row displays the style already applied to that document.
