How To Wrap Text Around Shapes And Pictures

In Newspapers or Book Forward you will notice a big image or letter the is usually surrounded by text. Ms-word has the feature of wrapping text around Shapes, Pictures and even WordArt.
In this tutorial I will be showing you step by step how you can wrap text around shapes and images. Kindly follow the simple steps below to learn this in few minutes.

  • HOW TO WRAP TEXT AROUND SHAPES
  • Step 1 - Open the document and insert the shape you want to the text to be wrapped around.

    NOTE:

    In this tutorial I am using a random text generated in ms-word for this practice, you can use any document of your choice to follow up.

  • Step 2 - In the Shape Format tab, go to the Arrange group, click on the Wrap Text button. A dropdown list of option will display. From the first four options, click on the option you prefer and it will be applied.

  • If the specific wrap option you want is not found in the dropdown list and you want to do more, in the Shape Format tab, go to the Arrange group, click on the Wrap Text button. From the dropdown list click on the More Layout Options.

  • Now the layout dialog box will be displayed, click on any of your preferred choice from the Wrapping Styles row. You can also set how the text is being wrapped from the Wrap Text row section. Lastly you can set the spacing between the shape and the wrapped text inside the Distance from text row section

NOTE:

You can get the text wrap option by Right clicking of the shape. From the dropdown list move the mouse pointer over the option Wrap Text and it will display the list of wrap text options.

To wrap text around pictures, you can follow similar method above.

  • Step 1 - Open the document and insert the picture you want to the text to be wrapped around.

  • Step 2 - In the Picture Format tab, go to the Arrange group, click on the Wrap Text button. A dropdown list of option will display. From the first four options, click on the option you prefer and it will be applied.

    To explore other wrap options, you can follow the same steps used in wrapping text around shape as shown above.

  • Step 3 - After wrapping the shape or image, you can move the shape or picture around the document and it will still maintained the wrapped format.
    In the image below, I moved the picture to the center of the document. You can also do this for other shapes.
