Selecting Text

Selecting text is Ms-word can also be called highlighting text. Texts are selected for different purposes such as to copy or cut it to another document area or word processing application. The various ways to select text in ms-word is shown in the table below.

HOW TO SELECT A SINGLE WORD

Double Click on the word you want to select in your document.

HOW TO SELECT A SENTENCE

Hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and Click on the sentence you want to select in your document.

HOW TO SELECT TEXT FROM ONE POINT TO ANOTHER

Click the start of the block text, then hold down Shift and click the ending of the block text you want to select.

HOW TO SELECT A PARAGRAPH

Triple Click on the paragraph you want to select.

5.

HOW TO SELECT COLUMN OF TEXT

Click and Drag your mouse from the beginning of the text you want to select and release it at your desired point.

NOTE:

Any time you select a text, the background color of that text changes from white to your default selection background color.
Also, you cannot make two selections in one document, trying to do that will terminate your previous selection.

Move your mouse arrow to the select box area and Click at the front of the line you want to select.

Move your mouse arrow to the select box area and Double Click at the front of the paragraph you want to select.

Move your mouse arrow to the select box area and Triple Click at the front of the document you want to select.

TO SELECT YOUR ENTIRE DOCUMENT

Press Ctrl + A

TO SELECT TEXT FROM CURRENT POSITION TO LEFT, RIGHT, UP OR DOWN.

Hold down Shift and Press any arrow key in the direction of where you want your text to be selected.

Shift + Left Arrow - Selects texts to the left

Shift + Right Arrow - Selects texts to the right

Shift + Up Arrow - Selects texts upwards

Shift + Down Arrow - Selects texts downwards

3.

TO SELECT A COLUMN TEXT OF YOUR DOCUMENT

Place your text cursor indicator at the beginning of where you want to start the selection from.
Then press F8 and click the ending of the column text you want to select.

4.

TO SELECT TEXT FROM CURRENT POSITION TO LEFT, RIGHT, UP OR DOWN.

Place your text cursor indicator at the beginning of where you want to start the selection from.
Then press F8 and press any arrow keys to the direction you want your selection.
