Text Alignments

Text alignments in Ms-word has to do with arranging or placing your text in a straight line towards a particular position. In Ms-word we have four (4) types of text alignments which are: Align Left, Align Right, Align Center and Justify

  • ALIGN LEFT
  • This aligns your selected text or paragraph evenly along the left margin in your document.

  • Step - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Align Left button, and your text or paragraph will be aligned to the left.
  • Keyboard shortcut for align left is: Ctrl + L
  • left-alignment
  • CENTER ALIGN
  • This brings your selected text or paragraph to the center of the left and right margin in your document.

  • Step - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Center button, and your text or paragraph will be center aligned.
  • Keyboard shortcut for center align is: Ctrl + E
  • center-alignment
  • ALIGN RIGHT
  • This aligns your selected text or paragraph evenly along the right margin in your document.

  • Step - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Align Right button. and your text or paragraph will be aligned to the right.
  • Keyboard shortcut for align right is: Ctrl + R
  • right-alignment
  • JUSTIFY
  • This will place your selected text or paragraph evenly between your right and left margins in your document. Justify makes your document to be properly arranged and gives your document a nice look.

  • Step - In your Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click on the Justify button. and your text or paragraph will be justified.
  • Keyboard shortcut for justify is: Ctrl + J

NOTE:

If you want to remove any of the text alignment from the selected text or paragraph, simply click on the button or press the shortcut key again, for that alignment on your keyboard to remove that alignment and return it to its previous form.
