Division In Excel

In this tutorial I am going to be showing you how to calculate division in Excel. This is very easy to do, just follow the simple steps below.

    I will be using the data in the image below. You can replicate the data in the image or you can create your own data. All that is needed is data that you can use for this division in Excel exercise.

  • Step 1 - Click or Select the cell you want the result of the division (that is the Quotient) to be displayed.

  • Step 2 - Inside the cell type in the - Equals to = and opening parenthesis (. Then type in the address of the cell that is being divided (Dividend). In my own case the cell address is B1.

  • Step 3 - Type in the division sign / and type in the address of the cell that is divided by (Divisor). In my own case the cell address is B2. And lastly type in the closing parenthesis ). Then press Enter key on your keyboard

  • Step 4 - Data in B1 is now divided by B2 giving the result (Quotient) as displayed in the image below.

  • Step 5 - After pressing Enter on your keyboard, the result (quotient) will be displayed.
