Excel - Insert Comments

Insert Comments

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to comment on any cell area in your excel worksheet. Just follow up with the simple steps below to learn this.

  • INSERTING COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - For this tutorial I will be using the following data below. You can create your own random data, but its advisable you simple create a simple data like my own below.

  • Step 2 - Click on the Review tab and go to the Comments group and click on New Comment option.

  • Step 3 - If you don't want to go through using tabs and ribbon commands, then Right Click on the data (cell) that you want to comment on. From the list of options displayed, click on Insert New Comment.

  • Step 4 - The comment box will be displayed. Inside the comment box, you can edit and type in your name and the comment you want to make.

  • Step 5 - In my own case, I have set my name and also type in a comment. You can use your own name and comment here if you like.

  • Step 6 - Now simply click outside (i.e click another cell). Notice that the cell that has comment on it has a small red triangle at the top right corner of it. So know that anytime you see something similar other worksheet, you should know that their is a comment on that particular cell.

  • Step 7 - To see the comment on that cell, simply place your mouse pointer on it, and the comment box will be displayed.

  • SHOW COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Right click on the cell with the comment. From the dropdown list displayed, click on the Show/Hide Comments option.

  • Step 2 - The comment will be displayed successfully. Now even if you click outside the comment cell, it will still be visible.

  • HIDE COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Right click on the cell with the comment. From the dropdown list displayed, click on the Hide Comments option.

  • Step 2 - The comment will now be hidden.

  • EDIT COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Right click on the cell with the comment that you want to edit. From the dropdown list displayed, click on the Edit Comment option.

  • Step 2 - The commment box will now be displayed and you can now edit the comment as you wish.

  • DELETE COMMENTS
  • Step 1 - Right click on the cell with the comment that you want to delete. From the dropdown list displayed, click on the Delete Comment option.

  • Step 2 - The commment will be successfully deleted from the cell in that worksheet.
