DEFINITION:

Margin is the area (space) between the main content of the page and the edges of the page.

Setting page margin in Excel is quite easy and simple to do, just like in Ms Word. If you have done my Ms-Word tutorial, I believe setting page margin in excel will be very simple for you to do.

  • SETTING PAGE MARGINS
  • Step 1 - To actually see page margin take effect, first click on the View tab, then go to the Workbook Views group and click on Page Layout button. Excel will display the full layout of the page. (Notice the header and footer are also there)

  • Step 2 - Now click on the Page Layout tab, and go to the Page Setup group and click on the Margins option. From the dropdown list of pre-defined margin option, click on any one of them and it will be applied to the page.
    Click on the Wide margin.

  • Step 3 - The wide margin option has been applied to the worksheet page successfully.

  • CUSTOM PAGE MARGINS
  • You can also set your own margin the way you want.
  • Step 1 - Click the Page Layout tab, and go to the Page Setup group and click on the Margins option. From the dropdown options click on the Custom Margins

  • Step 2 - The page setup dialog box will be displayed with the margins tab active. Here you can now set margin for the top, left, bottom, footer, header and right. You can also center the page horizontally or vertically.
    After you are done setting the margins to your preferred choice, simply click on the OK button.

  • Step 3 - Your custom margin is now successfully applied to your worksheet page.
