Excel - Print Area

Print Area

In Ms-Excel you can specify the area in your worksheet that you want to be printed out. Rather than printing everything inside the worksheet you can select a particular area and print it out without deleting the rest of the data contained in that worksheet.

  • SETTING PRINT AREA
  • Step 1 - The image below is a worksheet that contains two sectioned data at the right and at the left. Now I want to print only the Students and Scores column from that worksheet. What do I do?
  • print-area
  • Step 2 - Select the columns you want to print (In this case, the Students and Scores column).
Click the Page Layout tab, then go to the Page Setup group and click on Print Area. From the dropdown options click on Set Print Area.
  • print-area
  • Step 3 - Press Ctrl + P on your keyboard. This will take you to the print section. Notice that its only the selected data that is shown in the worksheet ready for printing.
  • print-area
  • Step 4 - If you go back to the worksheet, notice that the print area is still set, and whenever you want to print that worksheet, it will only print the data contained in that area.
So how do you reset this?
  • print-area
  • CLEAR PRINT AREA
  • Step 1 - Click the Page Layout tab, then go to the Page Setup group and click on Print Area. From the dropdown options click on Clear Print Area.
