How To Insert PDF

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to insert PDF to you Excel worksheet. I will be showing you two ways in which this can be done, just follow the steps below as it will take you only a few minutes.

  • INSERTING PDF
  • Step 1 - Open your Excel worksheet, click the Insert tab and go to the Text. Click on the text option and the Text group which be displayed. Then click on Object to open the object dialog box.

  • Step 2 - From the object dialog box displayed, inside the Create New tab, under the selection heading Object type click on Adobe Acrobat Document. To display pdf as icon, click on its check box by the right side on the dialog box. Then click the OK button.

  • Step 3 - Excel will open your file explorer in order for you to browse the PDF file you want to insert. Select the PDF and click on the Insert button to insert the PDF file.

  • Step 4 - PDF is inserted successfully.

  • Step 5 - If want the PDF file to display its content instead of displaying as an icon. Following through Step 1 - 3 again. When you the object dialog box opens, inside the Create New tab under the selection heading Object type click on Adobe Acrobat Document. Then unmark the check box Display as icon and click on the OK button.

  • Step 6 - Excel will open your file explorer in order for you to browse the PDF file you want to insert. Select the PDF and click on the Insert button to insert the PDF file.

  • Step 7 - PDF will now be inserted with the contents of the file showing inside your excel worksheet.

  • INSERTING PDF (ALTERNATIVE)
  • Step 1 - Open your Excel worksheet, click the Insert tab and go to the Text. Click on the text option and the Text group which be displayed. Then click on Object to open the object dialog box.

  • Step 2 - From the object dialog box displayed, click the Create From File tab.

  • Step 3 - Inside the Create From File section, click the Browse button to open your file explorer and look for the PDF you want to inserted.

  • Step 4 - Select the PDF and click on the Insert button.

  • Step 5 - Now the file address of the PDF is added to the File name input field in the object dialog box in the Create From File section. There are also two options to mark or unmark depending on your preference. But let's mark the two options which are Link to file and Display as icon

  • Before clicking the OK button there is also option for you to change the icon of the file. If you click on the Change Icon button the change icon dialog box will be displayed where you can browse file, select the icon and type in a caption for it. But for now, since you don't have any installed icon pack just ignore this part.

    Simply click the Cancel button in the Change icon dialog box and click on the OK button in the Object dialog box.
  • Step 6 - PDF inserted successfully.

  • Step 7 - You can Double Click on the pdf to open the file.

  • Step 8 - The PDF will be opened in your default browser successfully.
