Insert and Delete Worksheet

There are two ways to insert and delete worksheet in an excel workbook. I will be showing you them in the few steps below.

  • INSERT WORKSHEET
  • Step 1 - Open your Excel workbook. Right click on a worksheet name located before the status bar. A dropdown list of options will be displayed.
    Click the Insert option.

  • Step 2 - A dialog box will be displayed. In the General tab, you can click on the Worksheet and click the OK. New worksheet will be inserted into your workbook.

  • Step 3 - If you want to insert worksheet templates, click on the Spreadsheet Solutions tab. This will show the different templates such as Billing Statement, Expense Report and More.

  • Step 4 - Click on any of the templates and its preview will appear at the right side of the dialog box. Then you can click the OK button and the worksheet template will be inserted successfully.

NOTE:

You can get more worksheet templates by clicking on the Templates on Office.com button in the dialog box.

  • ALTERNATIVE (INSERT WORKSHEET)
  • Step - Open your Excel workbook. Click the Home tab, go to the Cells group and click the Insert option. This will display a dropdown list of options. Click the Insert Sheet option and a new worksheet will be insert into your excel workbook.

  • DELETE WORKSHEET
  • Step 1 - Open your Excel workbook. Right click on a worksheet name that you want to delete. (This is located before the status bar). A dropdown list of options will be displayed.
    Click the Delete option.

  • Step 2 - A dialog box will be displayed, telling you that the worksheet will be permanently deleted. If you are sure you want to proceed with deleting the worksheet, click the OK button and the worksheet will be deleted. If it was a mistake then click the Cancel button.

NOTE:

If it is an empty worksheet, a dialog box will not display before permanently deleting it.

  • ALTERNATIVE (DELETE WORKSHEET)
  • Step - Open your Excel workbook. Click on the worksheet you want to delete. Then in the menu tab, inside the Home tab, go to the Cells group and click the Delete option. This will display a dropdown list of options. Click the Delete Sheet option.
