Text Alignment

Text alignments in Excel has to do with arranging or placing your data towards a particular position inside a cell. In Excel there are five (5) types of text alignments which are: Top Align, Middle Align, Bottom Align, Align Left, Center and Align Right.

  • TOP ALIGN
  • This aligns selected text to the top part, inside the cell worksheet.

  • Step - Click the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Top Align button, and the select text will be aligned to the top side inside each cell.

  • MIDDLE ALIGN
  • This aligns selected text to the middle so that it is will be centered vertically and horizontally, inside the cell worksheet.

  • Step - Click the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Middle Align button, and the select text will be aligned to the middle inside each cell.

  • BOTTOM ALIGN
  • This aligns selected text to the bottom side, inside the cell worksheet.

  • Step - Click the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Bottom Align button, and the select text will be aligned to the bottom side inside each cell.

  • ALIGN LEFT
  • This aligns selected text to the left side, inside the cell worksheet.

  • Step - Click the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Align Left button, and the select text will be aligned to the left side inside each cell.

  • CENTER
  • This aligns selected text to the center horizontally, inside the cell worksheet.

  • Step - Click the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Center button, and the select text will be aligned to the center, inside each cell.

  • This aligns selected text to the right side, inside the cell worksheet.

  • Step - Click the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Align Right button, and the select text will be aligned to the right side inside each cell.

NOTE:

If you want to remove any of the text alignment from the text in the selected cells, simply click on the button again, to remove that alignment and return it to its previous form.

To explore more ways to align text inside a cell in Excel, click on the Home tab, go to the Alignment group and click on the Dialog Box Launcher icon at the bottom right corner of that group.

A Dialog Box will be displayed. Inside the Alignment tab, you can choose to alignment the text vertically or horizontally from the Text Alignment section.
