How To Insert Check Box

Check box are usually clickable box which is often used in some major excel projects. In this tutorial I will be showing you how you can insert checkbox in excel.

  • INSERTING CHECK BOX
  • Step 1 - Open your excel application, in the home window click on the More option and then click on Options from the list displayed.

  • Step 2 - Excel Options windows page will be opened. Now click on Customize Ribbon on the first column. Go to the third column and mark the Developer check box. But if the developer checkbox is already marked. Just leve it.
    Lastly click on the Okay button.

    NOTE:

    The Developer tab is not normally displayed amongst the other major tabs by default in excel, so that's why you would have to go and turn it on if you want to use it.

  • Step 3 - Now open a fresh worksheet, click on the Developer tab and go to the Controls group. In the controls click on the Insert option and this will display a dropdown of two categories (Form Controls and ActiveX Controls).
    Under the from contols category click on the Checkbox icon as shown in the image below.

  • Step 4 - After clicking on the checkbox icon from the form controls category in the Controls group inside the Developer tab, your mouse pointer will be changed to a plus icon as shown in the image below.

  • Step 5 - Now click and drag out the button to any height and width of your choice

  • Step 6 - Then checkbox will be inserted with a default label as Check box (1, 2, 3, .. depending on how many times you have inserted a checkbox before).

  • Step 7 - Right Click on the checkbox to display list of editing and formatting options associated with it. You can edit text, copy, paste and lots more)

  • Step 8 - Now use the edit text option to edit the text to Good as shown in the image below.

  • Step 9 - Now if you move your mouse pointer to the checkbox icon, you will notice that you mouse pointer changes to a hand icon.

  • Step 10 - And when you simply click on the checkbox it will be unmarked. You can also click on it again to mark it.
