Cells Borders

In this tutorial, I am going to be showing you how to apply borders to cell. This is very easy to do, just follow the simple steps below slowly and you will learn it in few minutes.

  • SETTING CELL BORDERS
  • Step 1 - Select the cell(s) that you want to apply borders to.

  • Step 2 - Click the Home tab, and go to the Font group. Inside the font group, click on the Border dropdown button.
    From the dropdown list, under the section Borders click on any of the option that you want to use to apply borders to the selected cells.

  • Step 3 - Borders applied to the selected cell(s) successfully.

To draw border and grids to a cell, you can also select its option using similar method above. Drawing border and border grids enables you to manually use you mouse to draw the lines of the border to cell that you want to apply the borders to.

  • Step 1 - Click the Home tab, and go to the Font group. Inside the font group, click on the border dropdown button.
    From the dropdown list, under the section Draw Borders click on the Draw Border or Draw Border Grids

  • Step 2 - Notice your mouse pointer changes to a pen. Now go the cell you want to apply the border or border grid and start drawing on the horizontal and vertical lines.

You can also change the border line color by following the step below.

  • BORDER LINE COLOR
  • Step 1 - Click the Home tab, and go to the Font group. Inside the font group, click on the Draw Border Grid dropdown icon beside it.
    From the dropdown list, under the section Draw Borders, move your mouse pointer on top of the Line Color option. This will display the color list of options for you to select from.

  • Step 2 - You can now draw or set the cell border and the color which you selected will be applied to it.

You can also change the border line type by following the step below.

  • BORDER LINE STYLE
  • Step - Click the Home tab, and go to the Font group. Inside the font group, click on the Draw Border Grid dropdown icon beside it.
    From the dropdown list, under the section Draw Borders, move your mouse pointer on top of the Line Style option. This will display the list of line style options for you to select from.

  • Step 2 - You can now draw or set the cell border and the line style which you selected will be applied to it.

  • REMOVING CELL BORDERS
  • Step 1 - Click the Home tab, and go to the Font group. Inside the font group, click on the Draw Border Grid dropdown icon beside it.
    From the dropdown list, under the section Draw Borders click on the Erase Border option.

  • Step 2 - Notice your mouse pointer changes to an eraser icon. Now go the cell you want to removing the border from and click on the particular border side (right, left, top or bottom border) and the border in the particular part will be removed.

TIP:

Don't try to rush through everything, take your time and learn it very well, if you don't understand any step, go through it again before moving forward.

To explore more option when you want to use borders for cells, select the cell(s) you want to set border for then click the Home tab.
Go to the Font group, click on the dropdown button.
From the dropdown list, under the section Draw Borders move to bottom of the list. As soon as you place your mouse pointer on top the arrow down tab line the last option will display which is the More Borders option. Click on it.

A dialog box will be displayed. Inside the dialog box, you can set the line style of the border you want to apply in the Style section. In the Preset section you choose which option you want: None, Outline and Inside Borders. You can also change the color inside the color selection menu in the color section.

To individually set each side of the cell border, you can click on the corresponding border box at each side and set the style, preset, and color. After you are done, click the OK button.
